About Me

My photo
Dennis Compayre
churchill, manitoba, Canada
For the past thirty years I have been working with and observing the population of polar bears that can be found along the western coast of Hudson Bay near the town of Churchill, Canada. If time means anything my time spent in the presence of polar bears in the wild is well over twenty five thousand hours. Being a guide for wildlife photographers and film-makers I had to be sure the people who intrusted me with their safety, and in doing so also allowed them the best opportunity to be successful in their shoot, never were harmed or disappointed. I could only achieve this by paying attention to the range of behavior these polar bears displayed while in their natural surroundings. The more time spent with the bears the more I realized the degree of intelligence these bears have is much higher than many could imagine. Within that high degree of intelligence you sense a heightened consciousness and an awareness of their surroundings that can only be found in the highest order of animals like the great apes, whales and dolphins. Unfortunately at this point in time, from what I see around me, a fair chunk of humanity did not make this list.
